Lesson 5: Vitamins and Minerals (27 slides)

  • Understand the function of vitamins and minerals in the body.

Lesson 5: Info Document 

  • Lesson 6 Info Document contains information learned in the Slide Deck and then some.  Students can use the info docs as a “textbook” for the class. 

  • Defines vitamins, minerals, and the function of both in the human body.

  • Provides examples of food sources that are high in vitamins and minerals.

  • Defines water soluble and fat soluble vitamins and gives examples of each.

  • Identifies important minerals for teens, explains the function, source, and daily quantity recommended.

 

 

Lesson 5: Assignments

  • 2.05 Vitamins and Minerals Chart 

  • Vitamins and minerals are micronutrients.  They play an important role in the human body.  As you go through the 2.05 lesson, have students fill out the chart.

  • Interactive Google version, or can be printed. 

  • Students are asked to identify the type (water soluble, fat soluble, or mineral), the benefits, sources, and daily recommended quantity for each vitamin and mineral.
